Nippon Paper Industries has established a new local subsidiary in Australia to further strengthen the liquid packaging carton business and facilitate global business expansion.
In recent years, the transition toward sustainable packaging solutions is expected to take place in the Oceanian market, as in other regions. Against this background, demand for paper packages made mainly from woody biomass raw materials is likely to grow in the region.
To facilitate expansion into the Oceanian market, Nippon Paper signed a license agreement covering the Oceania region with Elopak ASA (President and CEO: Thomas Körmendi, hereinafter "Elopak"), a leading global supplier of liquid packaging cartons, in March 2022. In addition, Nippon Paper entered into a general agency agreement separately with Shikoku Kakoki Co.,Ltd. (President and CEO: Shigeru Ueda, hereinafter "Shikoku Kakoki"), the largest liquid packaging carton filling machine producer in Japan, with respect to sales of filling machines in the region. With the opening of the new local subsidiary, Nippon Paper succeeded in establishing a system to sell paper packages with Elopak's Pure-Pak® brand and Nippon Paper's NP-PAK brand, as well as filling machines produced by Shikoku Kakoki.
Under the slogan of "Pioneering the future together with trees," Nippon Paper has been concentrating its efforts on the field of paper packaging with a view to helping people around the world enjoy affluent lifestyles and contributing to cultural development. Featuring the concept of "Let paper do what it can do," Nippon Paper will pursue the possibility of paper packages made from sustainable woody materials, and by doing so, aim to make contribution to the lives of people in Japan and around the world.
