One of the most exciting projects at stage at the PulPaper 2022 trade fair is of course Metsä Fiber's billion euro investment in Northern Finland in a new so-called bioproduct factory. It is said to be the largest investment ever in the Finnish forest industry.

Ismo Nousiainen, CEO of Metsä Fibre, provides Pulpapernews.com with an update of the time schedule.

- We will start up during the third quarter of 2023. Despite the Ukraine war and Covid-19, we have been able to keep to our time schedule and are now moving on to the equipment assemby. When we start up the new factory, we will disassemble the old one, which is sitting on the same spot, says Ismo Nousiainen.

The value of the investment is EUR 1.85 billion and it is the largest investment ever made by the Finnish forest industry in Finland. Kemi bioproduct mill will increase the annual value of Finland’s exports by approximately EUR 0.5 billion, according to Metsä Group.
