In recent months, Feldmuehle has managed the extreme and previously unknown fluctuations on the energy and raw materials markets, stabilised the business and order situation and initiated future investments. In the current challenging circumstances, various projects have been continued as planned since October 2021 and the implementation of investments amounting to approx. 4 million euros has begun.
For example, a new, high-performance mill system was built for the business processes in the last 6 months and successfully put into operation in Q2/2022.
In addition, various projects to increase sustainability and save energy, as well as various other projects, were managed as planned:
1. in addition to the successive conversion of all motors to the highest energy efficiency class, a new and significantly more energy-efficient compressed air system now supplies the entire site.
2. as part of a logistics project, all diesel- and gas-powered industrial trucks were replaced with state-of-the-art efficient electric vehicles and, in order to reduce waiting times for freight forwarders, the number of available loading ramps was doubled.
3. in order to be able to serve customer requirements more quickly, Feldmuehle launched an equipment modernisation project in May 2022. The core item is a new, significantly more energy-efficient and state-of-the-art embossing calender. The commissioning of the embossing calender with the correspondingly adapted environment, the investment volume amounts to 2.8 million euros, is scheduled for Q1/2023.
The basic idea behind all the measures - further projects are currently being prepared in accordance with the rolling 5-year plan - is to make the site more sustainable and energy-efficient and to be able to continue to provide Feldmuehle customers with excellent service in the future.
