Mondi, a leader in paper and packaging, is escalating the production of its innovative EcoWicketBags at the Szada facility in Hungary, responding to the surging demand for eco-conscious packaging solutions in the home and personal care (HPC) industry.
EcoWicketBags, derived from Mondi's advanced FunctionalBarrier Paper, are engineered from kraft paper that can be customized with specific barrier properties and protective features to meet diverse product needs.
Commitment to sustainability
Constructed from renewable resources, EcoWicketBags are recyclable at standard European paper recycling mills, complying with the 4evergreen guidelines. This feature positions them as a pivotal component of Mondi’s commitment to sustainability and complements the company’s existing lineup of recyclable, mono-material polymer WicketBags, which are in line with CEFLEX recycling guidelines.
The expansion capitalizes on Mondi's comprehensive capabilities across its integrated value chain, encompassing paper production, coating, and converting processes. Piotr Barczykowski, Mondi Consumer Flexibles’ Sales Director, expressed enthusiasm about the Szada plant’s strategic location to serve the European market efficiently. He highlighted the company's dedication to meeting consumer and client demands for sustainable packaging solutions with the paper-based EcoWicketBags.
In a move that underscores Mondi's ambitious growth strategy, the company recently announced its contemplation of an all-share offer for its rival DS Smith, signalling Mondi’s continued pursuit of leadership in the sustainable packaging market.
