Paper Excellence to not restart Prince Albert pulp mill

Paper Excellence Canada has announced it will cancel the planned restart of the Prince Albert pulp mill in Saskatchewan, Canada. The move is due to unfavorable market and economic conditions, according to Paper Excellence.

The company is citing weak market demand for unbleached kraft pulp (UKP) as a key factor in their decision, since the UKP market is highly competitive, with lower-cost producers from other regions dominating the landscape.

The plant is now facing a divestment.

Paper Excellence Canada, headquartered in British Columbia, is as a diversified manufacturer of pulp and paper products across Canada, with an annual production capacity exceeding 2.5 million tonnes and a workforce of over 2,000 employees.
