Fachpack 2024, the leading European trade fair for the packaging industry, will once again attract international trade visitors to Nuremberg, Germany from September 24 to 26. In line with the key theme of “Transition in Packaging”, market leaders, medium-sized companies and start-ups will exchange ideas about the changes in the industry, and shed light on current and future developments.

This year, Leonhard Kurz will be presenting its latest finishing and product security solutions under the motto “Creativity and Technology. Falling in Love”. From stand 417 in hall 4A, the specialist for thin film technologies will present a range of innovative packaging designs that combine creative design and the smart integration of reliable security features.

Award-winning packaging with innovative security features

Trade fair visitors will be able to learn more about the award-winning “Sweet Honey” concept at the Kurz stand. The smart packaging solution from KURZ subsidiary SCRIBOS uses the copy-protected security marking SCRIBOS ValiGate®. An integrated QR code allows consumers to easily verify product authenticity with a simple smartphone scan – with no need for a separate app. “Sweet Honey” combines digital and analogue packaging components, enabling the implementation of unique patterns on labels, such as a unique honeycomb design, which act as a security feature. Out of nearly 250 entries from 13 countries, the concept was awarded the German Packaging Award in the “Digitalization” category in 2024.

New brand

With Trustcolor Plus, Kurz is presenting a brand new security design highlight at Fachpack 2024. The decorative hexagon design combines fascinating color flip effects with the 3D depth of Trustseal SFX – specially designed non-holographic structures that make design elements look as though they are moving.

When the packaging is turned or tilted, the color changes, for example from green to blue, as incident light hits it. No dyes or color pigments are used. The special properties of Trustcolor Plus offer a high degree of design freedom in terms of size and shape – large-scale finishes as well as very fine decorations are possible. This solution can be applied as a visual security feature through hot stamping, while the integrated nanotext offers additional design options: for example, lettering with a height of just 35 µm that can only be viewed under a microscope.

Kurz uses a CBD oil sample packaging featuring a delicate hemp leaf design to demonstrate how high-quality packaging for premium products such as oil, maple syrup or wine and trending products such as cannabis, can be impressively presented. Trustseal SFX creates impressive visual 3D effects and the illusion of real optical depth. The extraordinary look of the finishing makes the design more noticeable and the product uniquely recognizable.
