Jordi Aguiló assumes the presidency of ASPAPEL (Spanish Association of Pulp, Paper and Cardboard Manufacturers) for the next two years. Through this appointment, made by its Board of Directors, Jordi Aguiló replaces Eduardo Querol, vice chairman of the LECTA Group. During his term, Aguiló will be accompanied by Miguel Ángel Jiménez, CEO of Saica Paper, who will continue to be Vice President of ASPAPEL.
Jordi Aguiló has a solid track record of more than a decade in the pulp, paper and cardboard production industry and in the energy sector. Since 2012, he has held various management roles at Ence, including CEO of the Energy business and CEO of the Cellulose business. Currently, Aguiló is CEO of Cellulose at Ence and serves as President of Ence Biogas, the Ence subsidiary that promotes the circular economy by transforming organic waste into biogas.
At a key moment for reindustrialisation, Jordi Aguiló will preside over the national association of an essential sector, which positions Spain as the sixth largest producer of paper and cardboard and among the top five in cellulose production in the European Union. The industry also places Spain as the third largest recycler of paper and cardboard in the European Union, generating 16,694 direct jobs and around 85,000 indirect jobs. Aguiló's experience, together with the commitment and commitment to innovation of ASPAPEL and the entire sector, will help the pulp, paper and cardboard producing industry improve its competitiveness, emerge stronger from the challenge of decarbonisation and remain at the forefront of bioeconomy and circularity.
Aguiló is an industrial engineer from the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, has a degree in Physics from the Universitat de Barcelona and has an Executive MBA from IESE.
