Suzano rewards suppliers with high performance in the sustainability agenda

Suzano, the world's largest pulp producer and a global leader in the manufacture of bioproducts developed from eucalyptus, recognized the socio-environmental and quality performance of its suppliers at the second edition of Suzano Valoriza, an event that took place on October 1. The awards were given to partners who stood out in practices applied to the topics of Climate, Water Security, ESG Management and in four new categories that were included in this edition: Innovability (innovation at the service of sustainability), Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, Social Development in Communities and Partners of the Cerrado Project, the company's new unit in Ribas do Rio Pardo (MS), which began operations in July.

In the Performance and Commercial Partnership categories, 19 partners with solid and relevant participation in the supply chain were recognized, working in the supply of inputs and in the provision of industrial, forestry, administrative and logistics services. The evaluation considered criteria such as Environment, Safety, Social Responsibility, Quality and level of partnership.

The company also awarded 13 suppliers for excellence in ESG management, in categories that include efficient management of water resources, climate, application of the concept of innovability, social development in communities, diversity and inclusion, and climate change. In this edition, the company also recognized an outstanding commercial partner that contributed solutions for the new unit in Ribas do Rio Pardo (MS).

“Joining forces with our partners on a sustainable agenda expands our positive impact across the entire value chain. In our centennial year, it is even more important to celebrate and strengthen partnerships with stakeholders who share the same commitments on this front, which is a priority for our company,” says Wellington Giacomin, Suzano’s Supply Chain Director. “The value chain is a direct reflection of what we believe and practice, and together we are building a more sustainable future with innovative solutions,” adds Giacomin.

The event also included a panel on the importance of cross-sector collaboration to drive positive transformation throughout the production chain. The debate was attended by Beto Abreu (CEO of Suzano), Monica Gregori (Director of Impact for the UN Global Compact in Brazil), Marina Negrisoli (Director of Sustainability at Suzano) and Viviane Danemberg (Executive Supply Manager at Suzano).

The awards ceremony brought together more suppliers than the previous one due to the expansion of the subcategories evaluated. There were more than 130 guests, 32 award-winning suppliers, in addition to the company's leaders.
