The German company emtec Electronic GmbH is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, and is starting a new era in the North American pulp and paper industry together with the new company emtec Electronic North America LLC at TappiCon 2025 in Minneapolis, USA. This collaboration was initiated with the aim of focusing on innovation, close and direct customer contact as well as flexible, fast and customer-friendly decisions.

From May 05 to 07, TappiCon 2025 in Minneapolis, USA, the premier conference and exhibition for manufacturers of sustainable forest products, will open its doors with a new program format. The German company emtec Electronic, known for its innovative test equipment, will be exhibiting for the first time with the new partner company at booth no. 829. It is the beginning of a new era for both companies, the customers and other experts from the paper industry. Based on the latest innovations from emtec Electronic, this new cooperation builds on decades of collaboration between the members of the companies.

Starting in the wet end of the papermaking process, the companies will present the already familiar compact yellow test devices, each of which fits in a carry-on luggage: CAS Charge Analyzing System for measuring the particle charge in the pulp filtrate and the FPA Fiber Potential Analyzer for determining the zeta potential of the fibers in the pulp. For the latter, an automated online solution will be presented: the emtec FPO Fiber Potential Analyzer Online. Installed directly on the paper machine, it independently takes samples, measures and cleans while sending measurement data such as zeta potential, conductivity, pH value and temperature to the process control system in the paper mill, or the mills can optionally share this data with a secure data cloud. The emtec FPO provides constant measurement data with the possibility of remote access, which brings several advantages for the paper mill itself, but also for its suppliers. Interested visitors will have the opportunity to learn more details during Eric Haagen´s presentation “Automated Zeta Potential Measurement for Constant Process and Quality Control” on Wednesday, May 07 at the Solution Center Stage.

For base and final products, emtec presents the softness measuring device TSA Tactile Sensation Analyzer in a new design. Compared to its predecessor model, with a proven track record in the tissue industry and better known as the Tissue Softness Analyzer, the re-designed device has been equipped with a touchscreen that makes it even easier to use. In addition to fiber softness, the device also measures flexibility and surface smoothness. Last but not least, the emtec ACA Ash Content Analyzer determines mineral fillers in paper and board without combustion (traditional method) such as calcium carbonate, titanium dioxide, kaolin/talc and more. The total amount of fillers, but also the individual amounts are determined quickly, accurately and non-destructively, and is very useful, for example, when recycling broke or waste.

emtec Electronic is looking forward to welcoming all interested visitors at TappiCon 2025. Eric Haagen, Sales Area Manager, emtec Electronic, and Rodger Segelstrom, General Manager, emtec Electronic North America, will be on site at stand 829 to demonstrate the devices, answer questions and discuss ideas!
