Potential investment Stora Enso and Tetra Pak have teamed up to evaluate a project under which they could build a new beverage carton recycling facility in Langerbrugge in Belgium where Stora Enso operates a factory.
In response to the “growing recycling need in Benelux” and the rising “demand for circular paper-based packaging solutions,” they two companies would process fibers at the Langerbrugge site, Stora Enso and Tetra Pak said in a statement.
About 75,000 tonnes of beverage cartons are put on the Benelux market, which comprises the countries of Belgium, Luxembourg, and The Netherlands, per year, according to the statement.
“This collaboration between Stora Enso and Tetra Pak would create a complete recycling system for beverage cartons in Benelux and the surrounding regions,” the two businesses said.
The facility would initially process some 50,000 tonnes of recycled cartons per year, and its capacities could be gradually raised.
