Italian recycled cartonboard producer Reno de Medici is resuming operations at its Villa Santa Lucia mill at the beginning of the new year, EUWID reports. This happens following four months of imposed stoppage, the company reports.
The plant, producing white-lined chipboard on one machine, was halted in late August following a forced closure of the local sewage treatment plant which is extensively used by the mill.
RDM group CEO Michele Bianchi said in a statement that the restart would not be easy given the many difficulties caused by the imposed production stoppage, concerning the mill's economic profile as well as employment and reputation.
The Villa Santa Lucia mill has an output capacity of about 220.000 tpy.
RDM Group is the leading producer in the recycled cartonboard business and the largest producer in Italy, France, the Netherlands and in the Iberian Peninsula. While coated board is mainly supplied to the European market, solid board is representing a leading segment worldwide including US and Asia.
