The Dutch manufacturer of cardboard and packaging solutions Solidus Solutions, Groningen, announced plans in mid-May to increase prices for all types of cardboard by €60 per tonne, according to EUWID.
The surcharges are expected to apply to deliveries from 17 June. In a letter, Solidus cites the cost increases as the reason for the measure.
If this current trend continues, a further price increase cannot be ruled out, explains Rienk Jan van der Kooi, CEO of Solidus, according to Euwid.
Solidus produces standard and customisable packaging, solid board, tubes, cores, edge protectors and partitions. As a leading producer, Solidus covers the full production process from recovered paper to a wide range of paper-based products.
