Sofidel America Corp is planning to add nearly 600,000 square feet of space to its Duluth operations, a project that could bring an additional 160 jobs to the city, according to Finance & Commerce. The company aims to invest at least $180 million,potentially reaching $250 million, in the project.
The city of Duluth backs the project, and has recently launched an environmental review of the project, which would support “expanded manufacturing, packaging, warehousing, and shipping capabilities”.
Sofidel America is proposing four new buildings with a combined 588,759 square feet of space, according to Finance & Commerce.
The company underscores that they are still at an early stage of the expansion project.
The Sofidel Group, based in Porcari, Italy, is a leading global manufacturer of hygiene and household paper products. Founded in 1966, it operates in 13 countries, employing over 6,500 people and generating a net turnover of €2.801 billion in 2022.
