Michelman, Inc. has announced a number of key additions to its management team at the company’s Singapore manufacturing plant. The hiring of industry veterans Michael Heng, Allan Low and the appointment of George Lim to a new position at Michelman is expected to significantly bolster Michelman’s presence in the region, expand market reach, improve customer service and nurture local supplier relationships. The personnel moves are being done in tandem with relocation of the plant to a modernized facility with increased capacity.Mr. Michael Heng has been named Commercial Director – Asia, and will be responsible for developing and managing Michelman’s short- and long-term commercial strategies for the Asian markets. Heng will also be tasked with implementing those strategies to meet the company’s aggressive business, sales and marketing goals. Heng has extensive and varied experience in the chemical and polymer industry in Asia Pacific. He was most recently Commercial Manager for the coating and inks business unit for Eastman Chemical Company, where he had worked for over 20 years. Mr. Allan Low has been hired to fill the position of Asia Pacific Plant Manager. Low most recently was the Production Manager at Valspar Corporation. He has over 20 years experience in chemical manufacturing with companies including Kyocera Chemical, and Kansai Paint. Mr. George Lim has been appointed to the position of Manager, Asia Sourcing. Lim’s new responsibilities will include developing and nurturing relationships with key supply chain partners with a focus on raw materials suppliers. The move will ultimately broaden Michelman’s access to key materials needed in the production of its water-based barrier and functional coatings for flexible film packaging, paperboard, and corrugated cartons; and water-based surface modifiers, additives and polymers used in coating formulations across a broad spectrum of industries. Michelman customers will benefit with improved local response time and product availability.
