Plans to shut down facility U.S. paper manufacturer Domtar is planning to indefinitely stop production activities at its Ashdown paper mill in the state of Arkansas.
The American firm said that it "restarted the previously idled A62 paper machine in 2021 at a time when our North American customer base needed additional supply of uncoated freesheet paper,” according to the information obtained by business news site Marketwach.com.
However, the current "demand for these products has reached a level that no longer requires this production capacity,” the paper producer stated.
In a statement, Domtar said that as "part of the Paper Excellence Group we design, manufacture, market and distribute a wide variety of communication, specialty and packaging papers, market pulp and airlaid nonwovens."
