With a new model Speedmaster XL 106 printing machine from Heidelberg and a model 106 CSB punching machine from Dymatrix, the site is expected to achieve up to 60 percent greater production capacity in the next few years. Both machines are used in production and complex processing of cardboard packaging for particular foods and confectionery. The total investment of around five million euros has enabled an increase of annual capacity from 50 million to 80 million prints. This is due to higher speeds, shorter setup times, improved sheet utilization and reduced washing times for ink rollers and cylinders of the XL 106. 150 staff are employed in Düren.
With the new Speedmaster XL, which sets new environmental standards and only uses low-migration inks and varnishes, the MPS Düren site now has two state-of-the-art Heidelberg XL printing machines of the latest generation (XL 105, XL 106). The eight colours and two coating units (double coating) allow maximum flexibility in production and offer a variety of finishing options, which are increasingly in demand on the market especially for confectionery packaging. "We meet our customer's desires for more smaller print-runs for certain, seasonal events with the new “in-press control technology". This allows setup processes to be automated and shortened", says MPS Managing Director of Operations Joachim Hoeltz.
